Russia – Holland 2009

On 19 June 2009 a bi-lingual, colour supplement to The Moscow Times will be published. The “Russia-Holland” supplement is an annual business publication, devoted to the partnership between Russian and Dutch companies.

This year the magazine is timed to coincide with the most glorious event in the cultural co-operation between the two countries for the last decade – the opening of Hermitage Amsterdam. The unique exhibition centre will be opened on the 19 June by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.

Business in Brief

06 March 2006Unknown$23Bln Pension Deficit The state pension fund will have a $23 billion shortfall in 2012 if obligations and revenue continue to grow at current rates, Vedomosti said Friday, citing a study by the Moscow-based Independent Institute for Social Policy. The deficit is widening at a pace that will see it swell more than fivefold in six years, from a shortfall of 112 billion rubles ($4.01 billion) last year to 633.4 billion in 2012, the newspaper said. Most of the pension fund's revenue comes from employers via the social tax, and the government's decision to lower the tax rate last year to 26 percent of wages from 35.6 percent is the main reason for the deficit, Vedomosti said. (Bloomberg) Swedish Trade to Double STOCKHOLM -- Sweden and Russia on Friday signed a new economic plan aimed at doubling trade between the two countries by 2010.
